Support Analyst

At ParTec AG, we design, build, and support purpose-built heterogeneous supercomputer solutions for science using our modular supercomputing architecture approach.

As a hardware-agnostic system provider, we work closely with leading technology vendors in the field. For building some of the largest and most complex supercomputers in Europe, we integrate a broad range of products and compute technologies of different origin and maturity level into total system solutions using our ParaStation Modulo software suite.

Support Analyst

Job Summary

To grow our team, we are looking for a support engineer either for our office at the Jülich Supercomputing Centre in Germany, or our headquarters in Munich. The job includes technical support of ParTec software products (the ParaStation Cluster Middleware “ParaStation Modulo”), as well as operational support of customer machines.

Primary duties and responsibilities

  • Setup and administration of servers for high-performance clusters based on Linux.
  • Analysis, classification and solution of problems in tight communication with the customers and hardware vendors, as well as with our software development team (1st and 2nd level support).
  • Automation of daily-day routine jobs using scripting languages.
  • Participation in research projects regarding HPC topics.

Required skills and experience

  • Solid experience with Linux administration (Redhat- and SuSE-based), including network configuration, package management, parallel file systems, and high- availability setups.
  • Thorough knowledge of shell and at least one other scripting language, like Python or Perl.
  • Good communication skills in both, German and English, and a strong focus on the customers’ needs.
  • Willingness to occasionally participate in project meetings or perform on-site tasks for customers in Germany and Europe.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Basic knowledge of parallel programming and debugging using C or Fortran and MPI.
  • GPU programming with CUDA/OpenCL or OpenACC.
  • Experience with configuring and operating specialized high-speed networks like InfiniBand.
